Review of the Deerma Humidifier DEM-F10W

In dry air, dust and bacteria feel very comfortable. They roam around the apartment for longer periods and increase the risk of diseases and allergies. Dry air is also harmful to the skin and nasal mucosa.

In general, it is in our interest to maintain the humidity level within the normal range. This is approximately 40-60%, and in dry microclimate conditions, the level drops to 20%.

An ultrasonic humidifier from the Deerma brand. Quiet with remote control.

Equipment and appearance

The humidifier comes with a power cord and an instruction manual. The instruction manual is in English and Russian.

The dimensions of the humidifier are 17x17x35 cm. To give you an idea, let’s take the average length of the palm – 18 cm, one palm is approximately equal to the width and depth of the device. Add the length of your palms together to get the height of the humidifier. This way, you can estimate the actual size of the Deerma.

The majority of the humidifier is its reservoir. It holds 4.5 liters of water, which is enough for 16 hours of operation.

In my opinion, the humidifier looks stylish: a black base, a strict console, a plastic insert in silver color between the base and the reservoir. During operation, the mist outlet tube lights up with a blue color. The device can only be purchased in black.

Speaking of the console, there are three control buttons: power, intensity, timer. And four indicator lights: WiFi connection and three types of humidity intensity. These indicators are also used to set the timer for turning off.

On the lid of the reservoir is a nozzle that adjusts the direction of the mist. The outlet can be rotated 360 degrees.

Works quietly

Ultrasonic humidifiers are quiet humidifiers. The vibration of the ultrasonic membrane, which breaks water into micro-particles, creates almost no noise.

Easy to carry

An empty humidifier weighs 1.4 kg, and you can easily carry it from room to room and even take it with you, for example, to the country house. If you are a fan of rational use of space or just want to take a humidifier and many other things with you, then confidently use the reservoir as a portable case. Life hacks, so to speak.

Duration of operation

The full tank of water will last for 16 hours of continuous operation. Essentially, Deerma can work side by side with you for a full workday, and then even all night without refueling. A pretty good companion.

Humidification intensity modes

By default, the humidifier operates in high-intensity mode. The indicator under the letter H on the console will light up. The higher the intensity, the faster the humidity level in the room rises and the faster the water is consumed.

You can adjust the intensity on the console or in the app. There are 3 modes in total: Low, Middle, and High.

Fine dispersion

The humidifier sprays water particles so microscopic that even a paper napkin won’t get wet if held over the outlet.

Protection mode

If the water in the tank runs out, the humidifier will automatically switch to standby mode and stop working. And then the indicators will also flash red. Just so you know for sure that it’s time to fill it up.

Installation and preparation

The humidifier should be placed on a flat horizontal surface, but not on the floor — it’s unsafe. You can install Deerma on a table, cabinet, piano, or a stack of books in hard covers. It’s important that the surface is not sloped. Otherwise, water may spill out of the gadget, and the water level sensor will activate the protection mode sooner than intended.

You can fill the water in three ways. For the first use, follow these steps:

  1. Remove the reservoir cover
  2. Remove the sponge from the pipe
  3. Remove the reservoir
  4. Fill the reservoir with cold water.

The second method is to open the reservoir cover and pour water into it.

Thirdly, remove the cover completely, take out the reservoir, and fill it with water.

As for the water itself. It is important that its temperature is below 40 degrees, and distilled water is not suitable. Also, avoid dirt, various impurities, and be careful when carrying a glass with your favorite drink over the humidifier. Spilled soda, tea, or anything else besides plain water can ruin the gadget.

For lovers of aroma oils, there is a special compartment with a fabric filter. The oil should only be added to the fabric filter, not to the water reservoir. Unfortunately, it is inconvenient to remove this filter. It is located at the bottom of the device, and it cannot be accessed while the humidifier is running.

Using

The humidifier defaults to high-intensity mode. This isn’t always necessary, especially if it has been running in the room for some time. Adjust the intensity as needed for your comfort.

With Deerma, you can set a timer to turn off. This is convenient if you don’t want the humidifier to run all night, but getting up to turn it off is not convenient. You can do this on the console by pressing the timer button. The shutdown time will change in this sequence: 2h-4h-8h-0. You can also set the timer in the app, which is a more flexible system: from 0 to 8 hours.

Cleaning

It is recommended to clean the humidifier at least once every three days. To do this, disconnect the device from the power supply, wipe the reservoir with a damp cloth, and remove all dirt from it.

You can use cleaning agents to clean the tray. Just be sure to rinse everything thoroughly.

Tuya app

You can control the humidifier while lying on your favorite couch. To do this, download the Tuya Smart app from your app store. It is available for both Android and iOS.

Conclusion

  • Water tank capacity – 4.5 liters, enough for 16 hours of operation
  • Aroma oil filter
  • Stylish design and lighting
  • Timer can be set
  • Remote control via Tuya app
  • Easy to refill water
  • Operates almost silently
  • Weighs 1.4 kg

Cons:

  • Inconvenient location of the aroma oil filter
  • Moisturizes only 20 square meters of area. For those who want to cover an entire hall or apartment with one device, it is not suitable.
